The first longer list of caves to encompass Ravna gora was Redenà ¡ek 1961,ÃÂâ but the first dedicated specifically to this mountain was complied by Zlatko Smerke and published in the 1980 Ravna Gora monograph. A speleological cadastre was published in 2009 titled Zavrà ¡ni izvjeà ¡taj projekta Izrada speleoloà ¡kog i biospeleoloà ¡kog katastra Ravne gore with additions in 2011 and since then updates have only been made to local and national cadastres.
More recently, exploration has expanded to the Macelj massif, of which Ravna gora is often considered a part.
