Arizona State University (ASU) has graduated a number of athletes. ASU began playing football in 1896. , ASU was tied for 31st among all NCAA universities with 255 alumni selected in the NFL draft. Six ASU alumni are enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame: Eric Allen, Curley Culp, Mike Haynes, John Henry Johnson, Randall McDaniel and Charley Taylor. Nine players are in the College Football Hall of Fame: Bob Breunig, David Fulcher, Haynes, John Jefferson, McDaniel, Jake Plummer, Ron Pritchard, Pat Tillman and Danny White.
