Les Hughes

Leslie Horace Hughes (18 April 1884 – 27 September 1962) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

Lesley Horace Hughes (AKA Flapper Hughes) is said to be Melbourne's first AFL/VFL football celebrity publican (TBC). In 1927 Les was the owner and Licensee of the Royal Derby Hotel, 446 Brunswick St, Fitzroy. Flapper rebranded the hotel as the 'Les Hughes Royal Derby Hotel' whilst he was the publican. Following his time at the Royal Derby, Flapper was later the Publican at the Aberdeen Hotel (324 St Georges Road, Fitzroy North) and the Gasometer Hotel (484 Smith Street, Collingwood).
