La Gi or Lagi is a town of Bình ThuáºÂn province in the South Central Coast region of Vietnam.
History
Its name La Gi or Lagi [laÃÂçç:ãiçç] in Kinh language was originated from ladik [laÃÂçç:ÃÂètçÃÂ¥] in Cham language, which means "swamp" to reflect the situation of this area before the 1960s.
Under the Republic of Vietnam regime, La Gi was the provincial capital of Bình Tuy province (present-day western Bình ThuáºÂn Province). After the Vietnam War, it became the capital of Hàm Tân District. It was established in 2005 with the split of La Gi away from Hàm Tân District.
