Kutojaya Selatan

Kutojaya Selatan (in English is Southern Kutojaya) is a passenger train with economy class service operated by Kereta Api Indonesia that runs between Kiaracondong, Bandung and Kutoarjo via the southern route in Java. This train offer only one daily service each direction, with a morning schedule covering around 319 km (198 mil) in 7 hours and 5 minutes. Unlike the Kutojaya Utara (Northern Kutojaya), which operates as an additional service on holidays from or Station to Kutoarjo via Purwokerto, the Kutojaya Selatan train serves the route from Kutoarjo to Bandung via Tasikmalaya.

History

The name "Kutojaya Selatan" (or in English is Southern Kutojaya) is taken from the acronyms Kutoarjo, Jakarta Raya and Selatan (meaning as South) is taken from the route it passes, but in reality the train doesn't depart from Jakarta, instead from Bandung. The Kutojaya Selatan train itself which start operated on 31 May 1977 that before from the Southern Sawunggalih train.

List of the Station

On 1 February 2025 following the enactment of new train travel chart 2025, the Kutojaya Selatan train was minimum time for travel from Kiaracondong to Kutoarjo for round-trip, sometimes the Kutojaya Selatan train was added with addition that operated at the specific day.

Accident & Incident

  • On 28 January 2011 at 02.00 local time, the Kutojaya Selatan 174 train collided by the Mutiara Selatan (Southern Pearl) 103 train at the Langen station. This incident resulted in both locomotives and several trains being damaged and causing 3 people are dead while 26 people were injured.
