High Chief Kamauaua was a member of Hawaiian aristocracy and a ruler of Molokai. Although KamauauaâÂÂs name appears as the first one on the list of MolokaiâÂÂs rulers, itâÂÂs likely Kamauaua was not the first monarch of Molokaûi.
The names of KamauauaâÂÂs parents are unknown, but itâÂÂs known Kamauaua was married to Lady Hinakeha, who bore sons to Kamauaua:
Keûoloûewa succeeded his father, although he wasnâÂÂt the oldest son, because Kaupeûepeûe-nui-kauila didnâÂÂt wish to rule. KamauauaâÂÂs female descendants Kapau-a-Nuûakea, Kamauliwahine and Hualani were âÂÂPrincessesâ of Molokaûi, being the rulers, not the royal consorts, since gender didnâÂÂt play a large role in Hawaii, at least not regarding the succession.
