Kalamakua â also known as Kalamakua-a-Kaipuholua â was an ancient Hawaiian nobleman, the High Chief of Halawa, a place on the island of Oahu.
Chief Kalamakua was born on the island named Oûahu, in ancient Hawaii. His father was called KÃÂlonanui; he was a son of the High Chief MaûilikÃÂkahi of Oûahu. The mother of Kalamakua was called Kaipuholua; she was a wife of KÃÂlonanuiûs.
Kalamakuaûs brother was Prince KÃÂlonaiki, the High Chief of Oûahu. Kalamakua became the ruler of Halawa, whilst KÃÂlonaiki ruled over the rest of Oûahu. Kalamakua married Keleanohoanaûapiûapi, Princess of Maui. The daughter of Kalamakua and his consort was famous Laûieloheloheikawai (born in Helemoa, Oahu), Lady of Maui as the wife of Piûilani.
Kalamakua ordered the construction of large taro ponds in Waikiki.
