Kaavi is a municipality of Finland. It is located in the North Savo region. Kaavi is also a part of historical Karelia. The municipality has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . It is from Kuopio and from Joensuu. Neighbouring municipalities are Kuopio, Juuka, Outokumpu, Polvijärvi and Tuusniemi.

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
