Judy Bwalya Melele (born on March 8, 1990 in Mufulira town], known professionally as Judy Yo, is a Zambian singer and businesswoman.
As a child, Judy Yo grew up in Ndola city Copperbelt province where she showed interest in the music arts even in her senior school days at Hillcrest Secondary School. At the age of 18 years old she signed to K-AMY Records, where she produced "Even If" her debut song in 2008. Beyond music, she has advocated for more support, unity and has addressed the challenges faced by women and families in society as she continuously inspires and advocates for the betterment of society.
She made a mark in the Zambian music scene through her debut album titled "Supernatural Woman". The album instantly shook the industry and quickly caught the attention of the organizers of the Born & Bred Video awards in 2009 when she received her maiden nomination. She has gained recognition and multiple awards from Born n Bred "Recognition award" in 2012, Mosi Lager Zambian Music Awards as the "Best female Vocalist" 2013, "Best female album contemporary" 2013, "Best mainstream female artist" 2014.She has several hit songs Super natural women, Chikawama, Anaka, Always on my mind, Bongo Bongo and All Joy to name a few.
Her collaborations with established Zambian artists, notably Slap Dee, Macky 2, Cactus AgonyâÂÂs and Mampi which further boosted her profile and helped solidify her position in the music scene. She has two officially released 2 albums âÂÂSupernatural Womenâ in 2008 and âÂÂChikawamaâ in 2012 with multiple singles to modern day like âÂÂPensuloâÂÂ, âÂÂBongo BongoâÂÂ, âÂÂStill the sameâ and âÂÂAll JoyâÂÂ. She has performed across the globe in multiple countries, South Africa, United States of America, England and Scotland to name a few.
