The Joyig script or Jyoyig (à ½Âà ½Âà ¾±à ½¼à ½Âà ½¦à ¼Âà ½¡à ½²à ½Âà ¼Â) is an abugida writing system used in Bhutan to write Dzongkha. It is considered halfway between the ÃÂchen (à ½Âà ½Âà ½´à ¼Âà ½ à ½Âà ¼Â) and Chugyig (à ½Âà ¾±à ½´à ½Âà ¼Âà ½¡à ½²à ½Âà ¼Â) scripts. Known also as Lhoyig or Drukyig, it is believed to have been drafted by the translator Denma Tsemang in the 8th century. Because it is like an Uchen written speedily, it got its name Joyig or "fast script".
