John Twidell

John William Twidell (born April 1939) is a British physicist and academic specialising in renewable energy. He is a former director of the AMSET Centre Ltd. and has served as a visiting lecturer at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford, and the School of Science and Technology, City, University of London.

Twidell was the long-standing Editor of the academic journal Wind Engineering (published by SAGE). He co-edited the 2009 book Offshore Wind Power.

Career

Professor Twidell previously held the Chair in Renewable Energy at De Montfort University and served as the Director of the Energy Studies Unit at the University of Strathclyde.

Throughout his career, he has held various advisory and leadership roles in the energy sector, including serving on the boards of the British Wind Energy Association (now RenewableUK) and the UK Solar Energy Society. He has also been a member of committees for the Institute of Physics and acted as an adviser to the UK Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy. He has been described as a "champion of wind energy" for his advocacy and research in the field.
