The is a Japanese design institution. Originally called the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization, it was founded in 1969 with the goal of promoting industrial design. It issues annual Good Design Awards.

History
- 1969 â Established as the "Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization" (財å£æ³Â人æ¥捣æ¥ÂãÂÂã¶ã¤ã³æ¯èÂÂä¼Â).
- 1971 â Joined the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID).
- 1974 â Commissioned by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry to operate the "Good Design Product Selection System".
- 1998 â The "Good Design Product Selection System" was privatized and continued as the "Good Design Award".
- 2011 (1 June) â Transitioned to the "Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Japan Design Promotion Organization" in accordance with the Public Interest Corporation System Reform. Kazumasa Nagai became chairman.
- 2013 (1 April) â Motomi Kawakami became chairman.
