was a district located in northwestern Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Before its dissolution, the district comprised two towns: Shima (å¿ÂæÂ©çº) and NijÃ
 (äºÂä¸Âçº). On January 1, 2010, the towns of NijÃ
 and Shima â along with the city of Maebaru â were merged to create the city of Itoshima. Itoshima District was dissolved as a result of this merger.
