Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Polish: Instytut Badaà  Literackich Polskiej Akademii Nauk; IBL) is a scientific institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences based in the Staszic Palace in Warsaw, established on 24 July 1948.
The Institute carries out documentation and editorial projects including âÂÂPolska Bibliografia Literackaâ (âÂÂPolish Literary BibliographyâÂÂ), âÂÂSà Âownik Polszczyzny XVI wiekuâ (âÂÂDictionary of the 16th Century Polish LanguageâÂÂ), âÂÂSà Âownik Wspóà Âczesnych Pisarzy i Badaczy Literaturyâ (âÂÂDictionary of Contemporary Writers and Literary ResearchersâÂÂ), âÂÂBiblioteka Pisarzy Staropolskichâ (âÂÂLibrary of Old Polish WritersâÂÂ) and âÂÂBiblioteka Pisarzy Polskiego Oà Âwieceniaâ (âÂÂLibrary of Writers of the Polish EnlightenmentâÂÂ), as well as the editions of the writings of Jan Kochanowski, Gustaw Herling-Grudzià Âski and Eliza Orzeszkowa.
The institute runs a library, which has manuscripts of Cyprian Kamil Norwid, Eliza Orzeszkowa, Maria Konopnicka, Jan Kasprowicz, Witold Gombrowicz and Czesà Âaw Mià Âosz, and an archive.
The Department of Contemporary Literature Documentation of the institute issued an online biographical dictionary, Polscy pisarze i badacze literatury XX i XXI wieku.
Grzegorz Marzec has been serving as institute's director since 1 April 2022.
