Ibrahim Ogohi , (14 November 1948 â 30 June 2024) was a Nigerian Navy admiral, who was the first naval officer to become Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria fromà1999 to 2003àand the first Naval Officer to reach four star rank in the Nigerian military during the civilian administration of Nigeria.
Ogohi had his early education in St John's College Kaduna fromÃÂ 1962ÃÂ toÃÂ 1966. He enrolled in the Nigeria Defence Academy inÃÂ 1967ÃÂ in regular course 4 passing out inÃÂ 1970ÃÂ and then the Midshipman's course in the United Kingdom inÃÂ 1971ÃÂ and the technical course in India inÃÂ 1972, the underwater Warfare Course in India inÃÂ 1976ÃÂ then the United States Naval War College Course inÃÂ 1980ÃÂ and inÃÂ 1992.
He was Commanding officer Eken NNS France inÃÂ 1982, commander NNS Anansa inÃÂ 1985ÃÂ and director Administrator at the Nigeria Defence Academy inÃÂ 1986ÃÂ toÃÂ 1987. InÃÂ 1992ÃÂ he was commanding directing staff at the National War College and deputy commandant of the Armed forces command staff College, Jaji inÃÂ 1995. In MayÃÂ 1999ÃÂ he was Chief of Defence Staff tillÃÂ 2003.
Ogohi died on 30 June 2024, at the age of 75.
