How a Black Man Feels is the fifth album by the American rapper Schoolly D. It was released in 1991 via Capitol Records, his first album for the label. The album spawned three singles, "Original Gangster", âÂÂWhereâÂÂd You Get That Funk FromâÂÂ, and âÂÂKing of New YorkâÂÂ.
KRS-One contributed to the production of the album. Schoolly D considered How a Black Man Feels to be a guide on living, and escaping from, the ghetto.
Trouser Press wrote that "other than the unfashionable stripped-down beats (complete with Run-DMC samples), SchoollyâÂÂs ugly and all-too-common gangsta threats ... sound like a sorry-ass imitation jackinâ for bucks."
