Hijli railway station is a railway station on KharagpurâÂÂPuri line, part of the HowrahâÂÂChennai main line under Kharagpur railway division of South Eastern Railway zone. It is situated at Hijli, Kharagpur in Paschim Medinipur district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is an alternate railway station to Kharagpur railway station serving the city of Kharagpur.
In between 1893 and 1896 the East Coast State Railway constructed HowrahâÂÂChennai main line. KharagpurâÂÂPuri branch was finally opened for public in 1901. The route was electrified in several phases. In 2005, HowrahâÂÂChennai route was completely electrified.
