It is specifically a derivative of 17ñ-bromoprogesterone and is similar structurally to medrogestone (6-dehydro-6,17ñ-dimethylprogesterone), medroxyprogesterone acetate (6ñ-methyl-17ñ-acetoxyprogesterone), and various other progestins derived from progesterone.
