DorneÃÂti (, , popularly also known in Romanian as Hadic, a shortened form of its Hungarian name) is a commune located in Suceava County, in the historical region of Bukovina, northeastern Romania. It is composed of two villages, DorneÃÂti and Iaz. From 1786 to 1941, the village of DorneÃÂti was inhabited by the Székelys of Bukovina. In the past, the commune was also inhabited by a German minority, more specifically Bukovina Germans (). Nowadays, the vast majority of the population are ethnic Romanians (approximately 90% of the commune's population according to the 2011 Romanian census).
As it is the case of other rural settlements from Suceava County, DorneÃÂti (, ) was previously inhabited by a small German community, more specifically by Bukovina Germans ( during the modern period up until the mid 20th century, starting as early as the Habsburg period and, later on, the Austro-Hungarian period. However, the main ethnic group of the commune was that of the Székelys of Bukovina well into the times of the Kingdom of Romania.
At the 1930 Romanian census, the Székelys of DorneÃÂti accounted for 91.9% of the commune's population Both the Romanians and the Germans amounted to 2.63% each. Other smaller ethnic groups registered at the time in the commune included Jews (1.72%) and Poles (0.93%). In addition, the vast majority of the inhabitants of DorneÃÂti were Roman Catholic.
