Gunnar Stubseid

Gunnar Stubseid (23 January 1948 – June 2024) was a Norwegian educator, ethnologist, folk musician, writer and magazine editor.

Background

Born in Bygland on 23 January 1948, Stubseid was educated at the Bergen Teacher Training College, and as ethnologist from the University of Bergen.

Stubseid died in June 2024, at the age of 76.

Musical career

Playing the Hardanger fiddle, Stubseid played with the musical group , along with Kirsten Bråten Berg, and . The group published two albums, one of which was awarded the Spellemannprisen in 1979. He published the album in 2008.

He edited the magazine from 1978 to 1988. His books include (1980), , and . He also co-wrote , and wrote a biography of folk musician Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa in 2003. From 2003 to 2011 he was rector at the Ole Bull Academy.
