Grey-browed brushfinch

The grey-browed brushfinch, or gray-stripped brushfinch (Arremon assimilis), is a species of bird in the family Passerellidae. It lives in the undergrowth of humid forest, especially near the edges, at altitudes of in the Andes Mountains of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, and most of Peru.

Taxonomy

The grey-browed brushfinch was often treated as a subspecies of the stripe-headed brushfinch (A. torquatus), but was determined to be a distinct species based on differences in vocalization, plumage, and genetics. The SACC split the group in 2010.
