George Gooden (1843âÂÂ1907) was the 1st Adelaide Oval Curator. Gooden was succeeded by Thomas Dickson in 1875. Gooden is significant as he was the first curator of the Adelaide Oval. Gooden was preceded by John Cocker as the Curator of the Grounds that became the Adelaide Oval.
Gooden during his life had a lot of other jobs then just being Adelaide Oval's Curator he was also Mr. Gooden received his first municipal appointment in 1875. He was appointed Acting Town Clerk of Kensington and Norwood in July, 1882, and in December 1882 he became Town Clerk, Treasurer, and Valuator. He was the fourth Town Clerk of that municipality. On February 12, 1900, Mr. Gooden was presented by the Corporation of Kensington and Norwood and the past Mayors and councillors of the municipality with an illuminated address in celebration of his having occupied the position of Town Clerk for 25 years.
Gooden was Appointed Curator of the Adelaide Oval in 1872 before losing that role in 1873.
