Fernando Valverde (poet)

Fernando Valverde (born June 9, 1980) is a Spanish-language poet and professor, known for his significant contributions to contemporary poetry. He has been recognized by leading global critics as one of the prominent Spanish-language poets born since 1970. Valverde’s work often addresses themes such as history, displacement, cultural identity, and violence against women. Valverde currently teaches Poetry and Romanticism at the University of Virginia. He is also the founder of the International Festival of Poetry in Granada, which he directed for 13 years.
