Edgar Clinton Hawley (February 20, 1850 â May 13, 1929) was an American merchant and politician who served four terms in the Illinois House of Representatives for the 14th district from 1889 to 1897, and as Republican minority leader from 1893 to 1895. He was a member of the "Big Four," a group of Illinois legislators known for their corporate ties.
