Destiny is the seventh studio album by power metal band Stratovarius, released on 5 October 1998 through Noise Records. It reached No. 1 on the Finnish albums chart and remained on that chart for 17 weeks. "SOS" was released as a single, reaching No. 2 on the Finnish singles chart and remaining on that chart for eleven weeks.
In 2016 the band released a reissue with enhanced album artwork and additional bonus tracks
In 2019, Metal Hammer ranked it as the 7th best power metal album of all time.
The album received positive reception with Metal Hammer writing âÂÂDestiny, was the culmination of this Finnish quintetâÂÂs first decade of wizardly development, bringing their sharpest skills to bear on a set of sweet pop-metal nuggets, killer trad Euro-bangers, impassioned power ballads and dizzying progressive epics. Metal Music Archives stated âÂÂDestiny is one of their most solid, consistent and tasteful albums. ItâÂÂs a great example of the bandâÂÂs style and its full to the brim with catchy choruses, entertaining and flashy musicianship.
