Daniel Cataraga (born 11 June 1995) is a Moldovan Greco-Roman wrestler. He won a silver medal at the 2016 World Wrestling Championships and a bronze medal at the 2018 European Wrestling Championships. Cataraga is also a two-time U23 world champion and a U23 European champion.
Cataraga rose to prominence after winning gold at the 2015 European U23 Wrestling Championships in Waà Âbrzych, competing in the 71 kg weight category.
He won a silver medal at the 2016 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest in the 71 kg division, marking one of MoldovaâÂÂs best results in Greco-Roman wrestling.
At the 2017 World U23 Championships in Bydgoszcz and the 2018 U23 World Championships in Bucharest, Cataraga won back-to-back gold medals in the 71 kg and 77 kg categories, respectively.
In 2018, Cataraga earned a bronze medal at the European Wrestling Championships in Kaspiysk. Initially finishing fifth, he was later awarded bronze after Georgian wrestler Yuri Lomadze was disqualified for doping.
He also competed at the 2015 European Games in Baku, finishing 11th in the 71 kg event.
