A part of the Riverside School Board, it was opened in 1972 and named to commemorate the centennial anniversary of Canada's confederation. The school's student body is culturally diverse. In the 2011-2012 year, the school adopted a house system in an attempt to raise school spirit. It was previously a part of the South Shore Protestant Regional School Board.

History

It opened in 1972 as the regional high school of the South Shore Protestant board. Upon opening it relieved Chambly High School. It was built within the Longueuil school board even though it was physically in Greenfield Park. Roderick MacLeod and Mary Anne Poutanen, authors of ', wrote that this caused "resentment" within the school boards that made up the regional board even though the placement of the school was "intended as a kind of compromise".
