Founder Betsy Freeman started out as a writer and, working alongside her husband Fred Freeman, chose to open Bloodhound Books as a publisher that would focus on one book genre, crime.

Bloodhound Books has sold approximately six million books worldwide.

By Bloodhound Book's third year in business book sales reached over one million pounds.

Open Road Integrated Media acquired Bloodhound Books in 2021.
