Banaz is a town in Uà Âak Province in the inner Aegean region of Turkey. It is the seat of Banaz District. Its population is 16,807 (2022). The mayor is Zafer Arpacñ (AKP). The town is situated on the main road from ðzmir to Ankara, at a distance of to the province seat of Uà Âak.
There is a village in Banaz District that carries the same name of "Banaz", lying at a distance of 4 km from the town. This is where the ancient site of the locality, called Panasion and from which the name Banaz derives, was actually located.
