Axis - Compagnie Aérienne Française, known until 2006 as Axis Airways and as New Axis Airways until 2009, was an airline based in Marseille, France. It operated domestic and international charter flights and cargo services on behalf of European clients. Its main bases were Marseille Provence Airport and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
In april 2000 Sinair AOC was sold and its assets gave life to Axis Airways. It began operations in November 1999 and carried out its first passenger flight in January of the following year. In April 2001 it carried out its first charter flight under its own name. In 2005 it was the first French airline to equip itself with a Boeing 757. In October 2006, filed for bankrupcy with the Commercial Court and a judicial administrator was then appointed.
On 1st December 2006, the Conseil Supérieur de l'Aviation Marchande (Higher Council for Commercial Aviation) issued the permit to continue activities under New Axis Airways name. It found a funding through a group of investors, including Arkia Israel Airlines. The owners were Etoile de La Valentine (26%), Arkia Israel Airlines (20%), Gamma Travel (13%), ISF (35%) and Sarah Tours (6%). In December 2006 had 73 employees.
From the beginning of 2009, the airline continued its operations. This was a brief interlude, as in September it announced the cessation of all scheduled flights and its commitment to the charter market only, under the name Axis Compagnie Aérienne Française or FlyAxis. On November 19, the company announced a lack of funding, and on December 7, the company's liquidation was made official. The airline had ceased flight operations on 16 November.
