Aromancing of Gwendolyn Poole

Aromancing of Gwendolyn Poole (also known as A Romancing of Gwendolyn Poole or simply Love Unlimited: Gwenpool) is a comic book series published by Marvel Comics as part of the digital anthology series Love Unlimited. The series is based on the characters Gwen Poole and Julie Power. The ongoing series—written and illustrated primarily by Jeremy Whitley, Bailie Rosenlund, Kelly Fitzpatrick, Kaitlyn Lindtvedt, and Alanna Smith—was published from 30 March to 4 May 2023 over six issues, and received a positive reception from critics. Additionally, the fifth chapter, "I Don't Know. I Don't Know What Comes Next After This.", is described on-page as a direct prequel to The Unbelievable Gwenpool, making canon the headcanon/fan theory of Gwen Poole being some degree of aroace (initially spread via in 2021 by Irish Tumblr user aceromanticperfection), an interpretation supported by Gwen's co-creator Heather Antos on the Discord servers "Gwen's Gay Cult" and "GWENHIVE!!!" in 2025.

Plot

Gwen Poole embarks on a series of romantic relationships while temporarily living on the living island of Krakoa following the events of Gwenpool Strikes Back, initially trying to date Wither and Elixir while trying to "solve" the concept of romance, before dating Julie Power. During the series, after being involved in the relationship (and stuck in the romance comic) for several months, Gwen "comes to the realisation" (in Julie directly telling her) that she is in-fact asexual, or 'aro-ace' (the specific variety actively seeking a queerplatonic relationship with other women or feminine men).
