Arctic Co-operatives Limited (Arctic Co-ops) is a cooperative federation owned and controlled by over 30 community-based cooperatives in Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and Yukon. The Federation coordinates purchasing and provides operational and technical support, along with shared services to Member Co-ops. Arctic Co-ops distributes dividends to Members through local Co-ops.
Arctic Co-ops provides services to more than 30 Member Co-operatives. These services include retail procurement support, Arctic Parts Direct, Inns North Hotels, Canadian Arctic Producers, Northern Images, Cable Television Services, and Petroleum Support Services.
Inns North is the hotel division of Arctic Co-ops. The division includes 23 hotels: 21 in Nunavut and 2 in the Northwest Territories. The hotels are locally owned and operated by community co-operatives.
Canadian Arctic Producers (CAP) is the wholesale art marketing division of Arctic Co-operatives Limited. Established in 1965, CAP represents community-based co-operatives across northern Canada and markets Inuit and Dene art. Revenue from art sales is returned to artists and their communities through the Arctic Co-ops System.
Northern Images is a retail gallery operated by Arctic Co-ops that markets Inuit and Dene art and crafts.
Arctic Co-ops coordinates retail purchasing and supply programs for Member co-operatives. The procurement division works with suppliers and Member Co-ops to improve merchandising, manage product assortments, and support operational efficiency in northern retail environments.
Arctic Parts Direct supplies parts and accessories to communities served by Arctic Co-ops. The program distributes products from manufacturers such as Argo, Suzuki, Yamaha, and Polaris, supporting vehicles including ATVs and snowmobiles.
Member Co-ops deliver cable television services to several northern communities, providing access to news, cultural and Indigenous programming, entertainment, lifestyle content, and sports.
Many Member co-operatives operate local fuel distribution services. Arctic Co-ops provides operational and technical support for these services.
Arctic Ventures
Arctic Ventures Marketplace is a long-established retail business in Iqaluit that became part of Arctic Co-ops when the Federation acquired it from local owner Kenn Harper in 2012. Originally founded in 1968, Arctic Ventures has operated as a general retailer serving the community of Iqaluit, Nunavut, with a broad range of goods. Following its acquisition, it has been integrated into the Co-op network to enhance procurement capacity and retail services across the North.
Iqaluit Gas Bar
Iqaluit Gas Bar is a petroleum retail operation operated by Arctic Co-ops and located in Iqaluit, Nunavut. It serves the local community by providing fuel and related services, contributing to transportation infrastructure in the region as part of Arctic Co-opsâ diversified business operations. Arctic Co-opsâ corporate listings include the gas bar among its subsidiaries and affiliated business units.
Tittaq Office Products
Tittaq Office Products is a retail subsidiary of Arctic Co-operatives Limited that provides office supplies and equipment to communities in CanadaâÂÂs North, particularly in Iqaluit, Nunavut. As part of the FederationâÂÂs diversified services, it supports the operational needs of local Co-ops and residents by offering a range of products essential for business, administration, and everyday use. The Arctic Co-operative Development Fund (ACDF) was established in 1986 through a joint initiative of federal and territorial governments and the Northwest Territories Co-operative System. ACDF provides financing and related financial services to Member Co-ops in Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and Yukon.
ACDF GOVERNANCE
ACDF is a financial services Co-operative owned and controlled by Member Co-ops across Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and Yukon.
As the financial arm of the Arctic Co-ops System, ACDF works closely with Arctic Co-ops, which serves as the business services arm. Both organizations serve the same Members while operating as separate entities.
ACDF provides a strong financial foundation that supports the growth and sustainability of the Arctic Co-ops System. Through ACDF, Member Co-ops pool their resources to access financial services that would otherwise be unavailable in the North.
These services help Co-ops maintain financial stability, follow sound business practices, support operational growth, pursue new business opportunities, and invest in facilities or equipment. In addition to direct financing, ACDF helps Member Co-ops access capital from other financial institutions.
