Ano Ravenia () is a settlement in Ioannina regional unit, Epirus, Greece. Traditionally, the village was part of the Zagori region until the construction of the IoanninaâÂÂKonitsa road.
In the late 19th century scholar Ioannis Lambridis described Ravenia as meaning 'flat place'. Linguist Max Vasmer derives the toponym from the old Slavic ravÃÂnÃÂ meaning 'flat, flat place'. Linguist Kostas Oikonomou derives the place name from adjectival possessive form ravÃÂnja which stems from the Slavic noun ravÃÂnÃÂ and possessive suffix -ja (masculine -jÃÂ) with the Slavic stressed sound ÃÂ rendered in Greek as e.
The village is inhabited by Greeks.
