Andfiskvatnet is a lake in Rana Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The lake lies about southeast of the village of Hauknes and about south of the town of Mo i Rana. The lake flows out into the river AndfiskÃÂ¥ga, which flows into the Ranfjorden.
The lake contributes to regional water management, having served as the main source of raw water for the ÃÂ ga and Haukness waterworks until their closure in 2020, when operations shifted to the Mo i Rana waterworks. Since then, Andfiskvatnet has functioned as a backup source, supplying drinking water to nearby communities and suburbs. It also provides water to the Mo Industrial Park waterworks, supporting industrial activities through a system that channels water from upstream sources to maintain consistent supply levels.
Andfiskvatnet is also part of the local hydropower network with concessions for regulation and use granted in 1986 and managed by Mo Industipark AS. Water from the lake is directed through a 4 km tunnel to the industrial park, utilizing a 200 meter drop to generate electricity via two small-scale power plants, contributing to sustainable energy production in the Rana watershed. This combination of residential water supply and renewable energy generation highlights the lake's vital role in supporting both community and industrial infrastructure in northern Norway.
