Etymology
The specific name, darwinii, is in honor of English naturalist Charles Darwin.

Distribution and habitat
Darwin's ringed worm lizard is found in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. The preferred natural habitat is grassland.
Ecology and behavior
