Advan is an Indonesian electronics company. This company was founded in 1999 in Jakarta. The company produces various kinds of electronic equipment, such as smartphones, computers, tablets, and laptops.
Advan was founded in Indonesia in September 1999 by Rudy Tirta, starting from the Indocomtech fair in Jakarta. The collaboration between Advan's Research & Development (R&D) Department and the Taiwanese brand created computer, laptop, smartphone and tablet computer products. Advan products are targeted at all groups of students, professionals and computer enthusiasts who consider the importance of performance, feature package and reasonable price.
In 2009, Advan expanded its assembly plant in Semarang, which was previously located in Taiwan, with the aim of reducing production prices.
In 2011, Advan launched several tablet with Android OS version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and 4.2 (Jelly Bean) ranged from 7", 8,4" and 9" screen.
in 2014, Advan released Hammer, a series of low cost featured phone coded R1, R3, R5 and R7, aimed for a niche market which only need basic communication feature.
In 2015, Advan discontinued the AIO Deskbook product. In 2017, Advan discontinued the Vanbook notebook product, while introducing mobile phone operating system IDOS based on Android, and focus on the smartphone market.
In 2019 a rumour spread, mentioning that Advan had gone bankrupt. It turned out that the company that filed for bankruptcy was PT. Advan Solusi Teknologi, a completely unrelated entity from PT. Bangga Teknologi Indonesia who owned Advan smarphone brand. The misunderstanding was caused by several media report on the bankruptcy ot PT. AST (which operated in oil and exploration business) attached Advan's logo by mistake, unaware of the unrelated nature between the company 'Advan' with the brand 'Advan'.
In 2022, Nokia announced that they will launch their newest feature phone produced in Advan's manufacturing plant in Semarang.
In 2024, Advan rebranded their logo and slogan, at the same time with the launch of their newest laptop, Advan AI-Gen Ultra and a gaming console, Advan X-Play.
Vandroid is a product line of smartphones and tablet computers based on Android.
Advan X-Play: a handheld Gaming PC with AMD Ryzen 7 7840U APU, 7" screen, 16 GB/32GB RAM, 512GB/1TB/2TB SSD and 50WH battery, which many tech enthusiast compared it to ASUS ROG Ally X.
