ÿAlam al-Dën Abu þl-QÃÂsim ibn Yà «suf ibn Muḥammad al-Balansë al-Sabtë al-Tujëbë (1271âÂÂ1329) was a North African Muslim scholar. Born and educated in Ceuta, his teachers were Ibn Abi þl-Rabëÿ, al-Qabá¹Âà «rë, Ibn al-Muraḥḥal and Ibn al-ShÃÂá¹Â. He continued his studies in ḥadëth (Islamic traditions) in 1295 when he undertook the ḥajj (pilgrimage) to Mecca. He travelled through al-Andalus, Tunis and Alexandria and crossed the sea from ÿAydhÃÂb to Jidda. His writings, all in Arabic, include:
The BÃÂrnÃÂmaj and the MustafÃÂd have been published. Ana Ramos Calvo defended a doctoral thesis on the BÃÂrnÃÂmaj in 1976.
