Parliamentary elections are expected to be held in Kosovo by 2030. In 2026, President Vjosa Osmani ordered the dissolution of the Assembly, basing the decision on the failure of the Assembly of Kosovo to elect a new president one month before the end of the current presidentâÂÂs mandate. One day after the failure to elect the President in the 2026 Kosovan presidential election, due to the lack of quorum, Vetëvendosje addressed the Constitutional Court to suspend the constitutional deadlines and impose an interim measure. On 6 March, Vetëvendosje sent the PresidentâÂÂs decree on the announcement of elections to the Constitutional Court, requesting the Court to declare it unconstitutional.
On 9 March the Constitutional court suspended the decree until 31 March.
On 25 March the Constitutional Court announces its decision stating that the PresidentâÂÂs decision to dissolve the Assembly has no legal effect, and that deputies have 34 days to elect the President. If the President is not elected, the country will go to elections after 45 days.
