The Sooners hosted three non-conference games against Illinois State, Michigan, and Kent State and traveled to Temple. The Sooners hosted four SEC conference opponents against Auburn, Ole Miss, Missouri, and LSU, and traveled to three SEC conference opponents against South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama. The Sooners faced Texas in Dallas, Texas at the Cotton Bowl in the 121st Red River Rivalry.
Oklahoma was predicted to finish tenth in the SEC preseason media poll. The Sooners received three first place votes.
