The 2020 Tennessee House of Representatives election was held on November 3, 2020, to elect 99 seats for the Tennessee House of Representatives. The elections coincided with the Presidential, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and State Senate elections.
The Democratic Party regained control of the 90th district. Incumbent Rep. John DeBerry, who had represented the district as a Democrat for many years, was removed from the Tennessee Democratic PartyâÂÂs primary ballot by the partyâÂÂs State Executive Committee after voting against key Democratic positions, including on abortion and other issues; his anti-abortion stance was cited as a significant factor in that decision. DeBerry subsequently ran for re-election as an independent. After losing his bid for another term, Governor Bill Lee appointed DeBerry to serve as a senior advisor in his administration.
The Republican Party maintained their supermajority in the state house, retaining all 73 seats.
