All 35 seats in the Maine Senate were up for election and the primary was held on June 10, 2014. Prior to the election, 19 seats were held by Democrats, with one Independent caucusing with them, and 15 seats were held by Republicans. The general election saw Republicans flip five seats, thereby regaining their majority in the State Senate that they had lost following the 2012 election.
