The 2005 Florida Gators football team represented the University of Florida as a member of the Eastern Division in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) during the 2005 NCAA Division I-A football season. Led by first-year head Urban Meyer, the Gators compiled an overall record of 9âÂÂ3 with mark of 5âÂÂ3 in conference play, tying for second place in the SEC's Eastern Division. Florida was invited to the Outback Bowl, where the Gators defeated Iowa. The team played home games at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on the university's Gainesville, Florida campus.
