The 2002 Oregon State Beavers football team represented Oregon State University as a member of the Pacific-10 Conference (Pac-10) during the 2002 NCAA Division I-A football season. Led by Dennis Erickson in his fourth and final season as head coach, the Beavers compiled an overall record of 8âÂÂ5 with a mark of 4âÂÂ4 in conference play, placing in a four-way tie for fourth in the Pac-10. Oregon State was invited to the Insight Bowl, where the Beavers lost to Pittsburgh. The team played home games at Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon.
After the season, in February 2003, Erickson left for Oregon State to become head coach for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). Previous head coach Mike Riley was rehired to replace him.
