The 2000 Tennessee Volunteers football team represented the University of Tennessee as a member of the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) during the 2000 NCAA Division I-A football season. Led by eighth-year head coach Phillip Fulmer, the Volunteers compiled an overall record of 8âÂÂ4 with a mark of 5âÂÂ3, placing in a three-way tie for second in the SEC's Eastern Division. Tennessee was invited to the Cotton Bowl Classic, where the Volunteers lost to Kansas State. The team played home games at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.
