The 1996 Virginia Cavaliers football team represented the University of Virginia as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) during the 1996 NCAA Division I-A football season. Led by 15th-year head coach George Welsh, the Cavaliers compiled an overall record of 7âÂÂ5 with a mark of 5âÂÂ3 in conference play, placing fourth in the ACC. Virginia was invited to the Carquest Bowl, where the Cavaliers were defeated by the Miami Hurricanes. The team played home games at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia.
