1996 Liverpool City Council election

Elections to Liverpool City Council were held on 2 May 1996. One third of the council was up for election and the Labour Party achieved overall control of the council.

As of 2025 this is the last Liverpool City Council election in which a Conservative was elected. Incorrect, last Conservative Councillor was elected in Woolton Ward in 1994.
