The 1983 UCLA Bruins softball team represented the University of California, Los Angeles in the 1983 NCAA Division I softball season. The Bruins were coached by Sharron Backus, who led her ninth season. The Bruins played their home games at Sunset Field and finished with a record of 40âÂÂ7. They competed in the Western Collegiate Athletic Association, where they finished tied for first with a 17âÂÂ3 record.
The Bruins were invited to the 1983 NCAA Division I softball tournament, where they swept the Northeast Regional to advance to the Women's College World Series for the second consecutive year. They finished third after defeating , , and and losing to eventual runner-up Cal State Fullerton and eventual champion Texas A&M.
