The 1897 Wisconsin Badgers football team was an American football team that represented the University of Wisconsin as a member of the Western Conference during the 1897 Western Conference football season. In their second year under head coach Philip King, the Badgers compiled a 9âÂÂ1 record (3âÂÂ0 in conference games), won the Western Conference championship for the second consecutive season, shut out eight of ten opponents, and outscored all opponents by a total of 210 to 14.
The team's captain was Jerry Riordan. The team played its home games at Randall Field in Madison, Wisconsin.
