  • The Philosophers Camp was a month-long summer trip to Follensby Pond in Harrietstown, New York where popular American intellectuals including Ralph Waldo Emerson, Louis Agassiz, and James Russell Lowell put themselves in nature for intellectual, artistic, and philosophical exchange. Organized by artist William James Stillman, the group lived in guide-built shelters.
