.ir is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Iran. It is managed by the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences.
Purchasing a domain name is done through the IRNIC website, but reselling is also allowed. As of May 2024, the price of registration is 200,000 IRR (US$).
Persian internationalized domain names are available for registration under .çÃÂñçà.ir for public, in the Persian script.
In 2010, ICANN approved the domain çÃÂñçÃÂ. (the Persian spelling of "Iran") after it passed a review to ensure it was technically safe and correctly represented the country's name. It then became eligible to be added to the internet's official list of country domains.
